Meyer Contracting worked with BNSF Environmental Remediation to clean up a former scrap yard located at MP 82X (line segment 32) on the Grand Forks sub. The cleanup involved excavation of impacted soils as well as stabilization of the riverbank immediately upstream (east) of the BNSF bridge.
Soil Remediation: Crews treated and removed approximately 1100 CY of soil from ground surface to 6 ft below ground surface along with approx. 200 CY of battery casing debris from the soil. The impacted soil was treated with EnviroBlend CS Solution, tested, and hauled to the approved landfill. All crew members were HAZWOPER trained.
Riverbank Stabilization: Flotation silt curtain was placed in preparation of slope stabilization activities and a GPS excavator was utilized to place fabric under water and install riprap.
Final completion of the project required backfill, compaction, grading. and restoration of the disturbed areas.
