NDSU Albrecht Steam Tunnel

This project on the North Dakota State University campus required concrete encasement of steam tunnel, sanitary sewer removal and re-installation, storm sewer removal and re-installation, and earthwork/paving. The project consisted of a full new encasement of the dilapidated existing underground service tunnel, underground utility installation, H-pile, tree protection installations, and earthwork with complete surface replacement.

The challenging aspect of this tunnel build was due to the constraints of the worksite and staging area. Our crews worked with a narrow range of space on this project and tight quarters while working in the ground. The project had a tight deadline to be completed before students returned to the University. The project was completed well in advance of the commencement of the school year to the satisfaction of the client and engineer.
