Our Scope

Replacing a Failing Dam with Durable Modern Infrastructure

We were selected to replace the aging Lake Alvin Dam spillway — a vital water control structure with significant environmental and seasonal implications. Our team demolished and removed the original spillway, followed by excavation, grading, and constructing a reinforced concrete replacement.

We drove a new sheet pile wall for foundation support, installed a low-level drawdown system, and completed all associated utility connections to ensure safe and regulated flow. Each phase was executed with careful attention to environmental impact and durability, safeguarding the long-term functionality of the dam for the community and the surrounding habitat.

Unique Challenges

Beating the Clock Before Spring Thaw

Timing was everything on this project. With spring runoff looming, we faced a non-negotiable winter deadline to replace the spillway before snowmelt surged the reservoir. Cold-weather pours, limited daylight, and frozen ground conditions demanded tight sequencing and fast-track decision-making.

Despite the compressed timeline and extreme conditions, our team delivered — maintaining structural precision, environmental protections, and clear communication throughout. The successful completion of this time-sensitive replacement reflects Meyer’s capability to execute essential water infrastructure on schedule, even on a tight deadline.

When timing is critical, we deliver.
