Meyer led the complete reconstruction of over 1.5 miles of Hennepin Avenue South — a major downtown artery in Minneapolis. Our work began with demolishing and removing aging infrastructure, including a decommissioned rail system buried beneath the roadway.
We then reconstructed the storm sewer network from the ground up, replaced deteriorated sanitary sewer lines, and installed upgraded water mains to improve system reliability and capacity. All work was completed within a dense, high-traffic urban corridor, requiring careful coordination, staging, and stakeholder communication to minimize disruptions while delivering long-term improvements to the city’s core infrastructure.
Reconstructing Hennepin Avenue South meant more than just replacing aging infrastructure — it required executing major underground utility work in one of Minneapolis’s busiest downtown corridors. Our crews navigated narrow right-of-ways and constant public activity, maintaining access for pedestrians, local businesses, and live traffic throughout construction.
One of the most complex elements involved installing new sanitary lines directly beneath an active 54-inch storm main — demanding focused precision, real-time coordination, and unwavering attention to safety. Meyer’s ability to deliver in high-pressure, zero-margin environments set the tone for this successful urban upgrade.
